Hope everyone had a good long weekend for Labor Day. We're back and blogging.
At Kelly's last doctor appointment, they told her they want one more ultrasound for size. They also told her they don't really induce labor at this office like the doctor did with my son at the other hospital. So we could be in for a longer wait this time around.
Apparently, the "last ultrasound for size" meant now. Because maternal-fetal medicine called and said there had been an order from the doctor to schedule one. Interesting. Won't she do a lot of growing between now and being born?
Anyway, we will be going in this afternoon.
Full nesting mode has started at home, too. Yesterday was a trip for the first package of newborn-appropriate diapers to last until the cord falls off and we switch over to the cloth service again. And in the year my son has been around, we've made it through a whole bottle of shampoo/body wash.
This time around, we know more about what we need. Which is different from what most parents need, we think. Now that we have our parenting style, I joked in the baby aisle at Target that we made it through an entire year without buying/using a package of Desitin. We opt instead for more of a frequent change philosophy coupled with natural balm that also works on cuts and scrapes. It's meant Cole had very little problem with diaper rash.
We're also big fans of the side-snap shirts with the built-in mittens that will keep her from clawing her eyes out with those crazy baby fingernails.
But even when we know what we like, we still have some options that have left us with some research to do. Where she will sleep, for instance. Trying to decide between in-bed sleepers, co-sleepers, bassinets, a newborn rocker-sleeper. The early days of Cole we found ourselves building him a nest in the huge-looking crib to make him feel more secure when we put him in.
The countdown is on. But we're ready. We think we even have a name. But no, we're not telling. :-)
